With the new year approaching, we take a look at the wedding trends that are set to be big for 2015. If you’ve just got engaged, now is a great time to do your research. Avoid the possibility of making the ultimate ‘last season’ wedding faux pas, we’re here to with a round up of the 2015 trends - make the aisle your catwalk.
The reception wedding trends
The naked cake made it big in 2014 but this trend is set rise to the top tiers in 2015. A great choice for the rustic, romantic themed wedding we should expect to see in the new year. A modern twist with ombre-effect coloured tiers and modern, cascading succulents adorning the wedding centrepiece.
From hippy chic boho brides to vintage and retro lovers, the floral crown is set to be big in 2015. Experiment with different flowers to achieve your desired look, but keep in mind seasonality too. If you don’t fancy giving it a go yourself, have pretty floral crowns made for the bridesmaid and flower girls or opt for more subtle or delicate flowers to incorporate into your hairstyle instead.
Paper lanterns, colourful paper chains, delicate origami birds and of course the pompom will continue to adorn the ceilings of the prettiest wedding receptions. Too vintage chic for the wedding theme you had in mind? Opt for geometric hanging lanterns, ombre or dip dyed styles of wedding reception decoration instead.
The dress wedding trends
Off-the-shoulder and one-shoulder dresses have made a real comeback on the 2015 bridal fashion scene. A modern cut looks best with a grecian-style gown and lightweight fabric and is a great choice for brides lookinging to show off a great neckline and decolletage.
Gone are the days of limiting your choice of gown-colour to white, ivory or...white. There are some beautiful nude and blush gowns making their way into the style books next year, perfect to compliment your whimsical wedding theme, but if you’re feeling really adventurous? Try blues, including mint and greys as they are set to make an appearance too!
Get the extra wow factor when you meet your future spouse at the top of the aisle by giving your guests a glimpse of the back of your beautiful wedding dress. The popularity of lace and deep cowls are on the rise and are a great way of adding some fun to an elegant gown.
The ‘we’re not so sure’ wedding trends
The ‘you’re not invited’ wedding invitation reared it’s head and we’re hoping it won’t catch on. We’d rather blow our budget on pretty embossed paper than send of frenemies some ‘quirky’ wedding stationery.
We don’t blame you, in a digital age and perhaps a tight budget, you might be forgiven for thinking a mass ‘thank you’ email or text post the big day will suffice. We’d rather keep it personal - and traditional - with a heart-felt, hand-written thank you card. There are plenty of low-cost, DIY style ideas to put a smile on your guests’ faces after the fun and frivolity is over.
