Trying to buy the perfect wedding present can be a tricky task. Traditionally newlyweds requested items for their home – a toaster, saucepans etc – but with most couples now living together before their big day, this isn’t the case anymore. The idea of providing a gift list doesn’t sit comfortably with many couples either, leaving guests to try and identify the right present for the happy couple.
So if you have been invited to a wedding and are stuck for ideas and inspiration about what to buy here’s some suggestions from the team at Braxted Park:
1. Wedding night accommodation – where are the bride and groom staying on their wedding night? If it hasn’t already been arranged, chose somewhere fantastic for them to stay on their first night together. If they have already booked, why not upgrade them or arrange for a bottle of champagne to be waiting in their hotel room? Or perhaps some spa treatments for them to enjoy on their first morning together as a married couple?
2. Money - Money may not be the most personal of gifts but it will certainly be the most useful for many couples. Whether they put it towards paying the bill for the big day, use it on honeymoon, buy something for their home or share an experience using the money, it is a sure fire solution to the wedding present dilemma. If you don’t want to hand over cash, why not buy them a voucher for their favourite shop or to use towards honeymoon?
3. Experiences – Why not treat the bride and groom to a special day out? Maybe a spa day or afternoon tea? You could even pay for them to have dinner at their favourite restaurant. If this is beyond your budget, why not combine with another wedding guest?
4. A gift to treasure – If you want the couple to have a present that will pass the test of time, consider buying them a piece of art, a vase for their home or even a bottle of whisky or champagne that can be kept for years to come?
